INTRODUCTION TO AYURVEDA
Something Old That’s Something New
It’s a household word for millions of people in India, yet Ayurveda remains a mystery to most Americans.  Often
viewed as a New Age phenomenon, Ayurveda has been around for at least 5,000 to 10,000 years.  It is older
than Traditional Chinese Medicine.  Ayurveda emphasizes the maintenance of good health via a balanced
daily routine and  seasonal regime and a wholesome diet.
The central concept is that people can be classified by three constitutional types, or
doshas:  Vata, Pitta and Kapha.  Come to this class to discover your dosha type, and
learn how you can reach optimal balance (health) for your specific constitution.
Includes informational booklet.
The following will be covered in this class:

What is Ayurveda? -Purusha/Prakruiti: The 5 Elements - The Three Doshas:
Vata-Pitta-Kapha - Mental Constition: satva, rajas, tamas – Prakruiti:  individual constitution – Samprapti: The
disease process – Shodan: Cleansing – Rasayana: Rejuvenation – Dinacharya:  Daily self care
