    Our Mission is to provide new concepts and practices that will enhance
    the true, unique expression of each child.  

Qualified guest facilitators, from various areas of expertise, will present. The seven
aspects of wholeness will be explored throughout the Program. All activities will be
focused, interactive experiences.

YOUR Children will be well cared for: Throughout the day three to four qualified Being in
Balance directors will be supervising and guiding the group of not more than 12 children.
Your children will be awed and excited in a nurturing environment. They will develop self-
confidence and will experience the Being in Balance Character Development at its best.
We will also emphasize caring, honesty, and respect.


    Cost per Session: $350
    Half-Day Session (1-4pm) Mon – Friday: $200
    Second child in the family receives 30% discount
    Please provide a lunch for your child. We will provide healthy snacks.
    Each child will need to bring a comforter.

    Karen Amato
    Presenting:
    “MY FEELINGS AREN’T RIGHT OR WRONG, THEY JUST ARE”




This interactive hour will give your child an awareness of his or her feelings as a natural,
normal and necessary part of being whole, healthy and happy - using color association,
guided imagery and role playing. We will explore questions regarding the purpose of our
feelings and what happens when we try to bury our feelings. Your child will explore ways
to be more comfortable with their own feelings and those of others.  The intent is to
support and build compassion (for oneself and others), emotional courage and balance in
a safe, caring environment.

Facilitated by Karen Amato, CSLC, C.ht.
Karen is a certified Spiritual Life Coach, certified Hypnosis & Healing Guided Imagery practitioner &
spiritual mentor. She has worked with children in her private practice to increase focus and self-esteem,
and provides ways to deal with emotional, behavioral and family issues. Karen loves working with young
people, as she finds them very open and willing to accept and implement wellness and spiritual
information and practices into their lives.

    Dr. Michael Magwood, Chiropractic Wellness Center
    Presenting:  POSTURE PRO




Dr. Magwood, Family Chiropractor, will show and teach great spinal health habits by using
the Straighten Up America-for Kids exercise module.  Parents will be provided a written
report summarizing each child’s basic postural, neurological, and soft tissue findings.

The mission of the Chiropractic Wellness Center is to educate and adjust children and their families
towards optimal healing.  The Center celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2007.  Gentle pediatric
techniques and certification in the Webster technique for pregnant women has been their greatest
advancement in 2008.

    Julia Santiago, Americana Leadership College
    Presenting:  MYSTICAL PRACTICES OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN





In this workshop, the children will examine and experience certain American Indian
Practices.  They will:  Receive an Indian Name, Experience a Circle of Oneness, Tune into
Nature, Learn about the Vision Quest, and have an opportunity to draw their own
Personal Shield as Native Americans did.

Julia Santiago, is a spiritual consultant and certified instructor of the Americana Leadership College,
inspiring many souls on their own journey of self-discovery and personal leadership. Julia has given
lectures and workshops on the East Coast since 1989. She is a veteran Educator with a PhD equivalency
in Education, having taught grades 5-12.

Oreste “Rusty” D’Aversa, The Institute of Practical Spirituality™

Rusty will teach Breath Work and your child will learn various breathing techniques to
relax the body and mind.  He will guide each child into Creative Visualization to create a
happy and successful future experience, and he will facilitate a Meditation to align Body-
Mind-Spirit to achieve a calm, focused Mind.

Gioya McRae, Mocha Mind Communications
Presenting:  
“I’M A SUPER HERO!”




On Day One, author and publisher, Gioya McRae, will help the class develop a Super
Hero story through discussions of Super Hero powers and how they help people.  Each
child will draw himself or herself as a super hero and write their story.  On Day Two, the
Super Hero Comic Books will be constructed and each child will read their story out loud
to the group.

Gioya McRae, the Founder of Mocha Mind Communications, is an author, speaker, publisher, and
editor who is devoted to literacy and sharing her writing knowledge with others. Her articles have been
featured in numerous magazines and her debut book, “Mostly Murder, a Medley of Mayhem & Mystery,”

    Jacquetta Perry, Variations in Communication, LLC
    Presenting:  “IT’S TIME TO COMMUNICATE!”




Jacquetta will conduct a musical communication class/workshop which is filled with fun
songs, chants, dance movements, and various strategies designed to help children
improve their overall communication skills, which include: Social Skills, Expressive
Language Skills, Receptive Language Skills, Vocabulary Building, Mouth Exercises,
Positive Affirmations/Self-Esteem Building and Relaxation Techniques.

Jaquetta Perry is a rising star in the world of children’s music.  She is a Speech-Language Specialist,
consultant, speaker and vocalist. She works in the Newark Public Schools and is founder of Variations in
Communication, LLC – a holistic communication company. She brings her gifts and talent to motivate,
inspire and encourage others.  She has just released several new CDs, including “Directions in
Communication” for children.

Gladys Smith
Presenting:  FINANCIAL HEALTH: “The Ten Basic Money Skills”






A child with a good understanding of basic money skills and a history of discussing money
management is better prepared to tackle an issue that will have a critical impact on their
adult life. Fundamentals of her curriculum will be:
How to save - How to keep track of money -How to get paid what you are worth – How to
spend money wisely-  How to talk about money -  How to live on a budget   How to invest -  
How to exercise the entrepreneurial spirit - How to handle credit– How to use money for
world change

Gladys Smith has been a speech and language pathologist for 8 years. She received her Master’s
degree from Howard University and will be completing her PhD there in the fall of 2008.  Ms. Smith has
been involved in financial education/literacy since 1998.  She is a real estate investor.  She is also an
entrepreneur in a range of ventures. Gladys currently gives seminars on wealth management through
her Women's Wealth Initiative workshops and Titan training (Creating Generational Wealth in the African-

    Audie Stellato
    Presenting:  YOGA-LATIE-CALIE-CARDI



The best of Yoga, Pilates, Calisthenics and Cardio all in one class. Long-time dance
instructor, Audie, will lead students through fun and energetic exercise techniques used by
dancers and athletes to keep in shape. These exercises will help tone muscles, increase
flexibility and promote a healthy heart. Parts of the class will be done both indoors and out,
weather permitting.

Audie, Middle Eastern Dance Instructor and Performer, has been performing since 1990 and teaching
since 1994.  She has become a student of cultures, language and philosophies of Ancient Egypt and
Africa.  Also, as a Shiatsu Practitioner and graduate of the Ohashiatsu Institute, New York, Audie uses her
background in Asian medicine and physiology to explore the healthful properties of belly dance.  Her BA in
Communication Theory supports her writing on health and dance for holistic publications.

Maria is a Spiritual Counselor with the Americana Leadership College, and past College Regional
Director for New England, New York, and New Jersey. She is an Educator with two Master’s degrees and
over two decades of experience in Education.  She is also an Educational Coordinator and an
Experienced Leader in ESL, Special Education and Tutoring K-12.

PARTICIPATION & PERMISSION AGREEMENT

I hereby enroll my child______________________________in the Being In Balance Inc
Summer Program and I

        grant permission for the child to participate in all scheduled activities, including
walks to the Nutley Park.

        understand I must inform the Center of any medical diagnosis and/or medical
restrictions prior to the start of the program, as required by law.

        give permission to use any pictures taken of my child during participation in the
program for promotional purposes.  This photograph may be placed on the Center’s
Internet Web Page, brochure or promotional flyer about our programs.

        understand the program fee does not include health and accident insurance and
will personally be responsible for any and all charges incurred for prompt medical
treatment.

        understand that each child and parent must cooperate and accept camp rules and
guidelines. Inappropriate behavior may involve disciplinary action by the program

Aleah Williams
Presenting:  FOR THE FUN OF IT


Aleah will incorporate warm-ups, stretching, running, and games that will demonstrate that
you can have fun and exercise too.

Aleah is a substitute teacher and a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. She competed in the
2000 and 2004 U.S. Olympic Track and Field trials and has since coached, volunteered, mentored, and
tutored elementary, middle school, high school and college undergraduate students. Her involvement in
athletics has taught her the importance of daily exercise. She believes exercise can and should be an
enjoyable experience that leaves you wanting more.


    Jovita Wallace, Founder/Director, Being In Balance Inc.
    Presenting:  THE COLOR AND SOUND EXPERIENCE




Jovita will facilitate an interactive group experience to help children release
emotions that cannot be verbally communicated.
When sound/color vibration is received for a specific benefit, negative emotional memory
is released, and the child becomes more balanced.  Unblocking the energy field allows
him/her to return to their perfect, essential radiant self.                                        
The children will receive pure tone sound therapy using crystal bowl music.  Following this
sound session, each child will use color and symbolism to illustrate their experience. The
children will share their drawings, and we will explore the symbols and color significance.
Other scheduled events will include teaching energy techniques, Native American
Spirituality and Practice, building the Medicine Wheel and connecting to Mother Earth.

Fusing theories and methods from the metaphysical realm with conventional medical practices, Jovita
Wallace is the epitome of a modern day Wellness Practitioner.  Healer, teacher, spiritual counselor,
speaker, artist and consultant are among the roles she plays in her capacity as a wellness professional.  
She is the founder and director of Being in Balance, Inc., Sound Wellness Center, a company that is
responsible for creating wellness programs that incorporate a multitude of groundbreaking treatments
and therapies. These spiritual counseling and healing programs are designed to help people overcome
emotional and physical ailments and disabilities.  In this capacity, Jovita serves as an advocate of and
leader in the 21st century’s pervasive Wellness Movement.
